Lost Love in Lunar Madness Release
Heyo. Lunatic here!
We've finally released Lost Love in Lunar Madness after two months of development time. In the spirit of the new release, I figured I would write a short devlog about it!
A little backstory for Lost Love in Lunar Madness: Originally, I conceived the concept for Sealed with a Kiss Jam 2025. The premise behind it was that the protagonist was stuck in a physical time loop fighting against the last boss of a JRPG. In order to break the loop and save the world, he/she would have to survive the loop long enough to defeat the last boss. The twist was, was the last boss was your childhood friend and first love that went missing after defeating a powerful entity. Turns out they had gone crazy and adopted an insane persona and wanted to destroy the world/game due to seeing beyond the 4th wall and becoming self aware that they were stuck in a game world.
I really enjoyed this concept, it was fun, but I didn't have the proper assets and programming knowledge to tackle the battle system and looping game mechanic. I also had an unresponsive team member. I ended up putting the idea on the backburner for a while.
Fast forward to Nanoreno 2025. Again, I attempted to restart the project on my own. Unfortunately, I also failed to release it during that timeframe.
I was feeling a little let down by myself. I really want to be a consistent developer and release regularly. Luckily, my partner told me that I shouldn't give up on the project and that I should just put it out. With her words of encouragement, I decided to recruit for Otome/Josei Jam! If you have a project that you couldn't finish, don't beat yourself up over it. There's always another jam or another time to work on it. Don't just give up.
But yeah. The development of Lost Love in Lunar Madness wasn't without it's own small hurdles and set backs, but I was able to recruit 8 fantastic team members to see the project to fruition! I'm super excited to have a newly released demo, with a full release on the horizon later this year! The script is already finished and is 55k+ words with 9 different endings. It's pretty thicc.
That's all I have for now!
Thank you to all that put in the hard work on Lost Love in Lunar Madness!
My(hopefully)next devlog will go over what went right and what went wrong. I guess that'd be a post-mortem or something, right?
See ya later.
